Nigerian born Barnes-Jewish chaplain Lawrence Olatunde will help coordinate“Becoming a Drum Major for Change this year’s MLK commemorative service presented by Barnes-Jewish and St. Louis Children’s hospitals.
The events will be held 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13 at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital 3rd floor auditorium and Monday, Jan. 16 at the St. Louis Eric P. Newman Educational Center Auditorium.
Speakers and musical guests include superintendent of Ferguson-Florissant School District, Art J. McCoy, 12-year-old soloist Grace Robertson and the Show Me Drum Line.
Olatunde admired the life and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King during a difficult time in Nigeria’s society. Dr. King’s life made an impact on Olatunde’s career as a chaplain.
