North County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony and Justice’s 2015 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest Winners

North County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony and Justice (NCCU) will be making presentations of Awards and Certificates to its 2015 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest Winners at the Annual Dr. King Celebration  in the Terry E. Fisher Theatre on the Campus of St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 18. NCCU will be cosponsoring this celebration for the 14th year. 

Winners this year are:

Grades 1-5: Shadonna Fowler, Fairview Elementary School, Jennings School District

Grades 6-8: Carlissa Hinton, Central Middle School, Riverview Gardens School District; Jordon M. Ryan, Hazelwood North Middle School, Hazelwood School District

Grades 9-12: Kenyatta Turner, Trinity Catholic High School

Adult: Tracy Hinds, Instructional Specialist, Twillman Elementary School, Hazelwood School District

Rance Thomas, president of NCCU, will present each winner with a check for $100 and a Certificate of Excellence. Music will be furnished by NCCU member church Christ Our Redeemer AME Church, and the keynote speaker will be former Ferguson-Florissant School District Superintendent Art McCoy.

The event is free and open to the public.
