Parents looking to check one more thing off their youth sports to-do list can do so for free this weekend.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis is teaming up with SLU Health to provide free sports physicals and baseline concussion testing for children and teens from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Mathews-Dickey Club, 4245 N. Kingshighway Blvd.
The event is designed to help young athletes get cleared for participation before the upcoming sports season while also giving families access to preventive health services at no cost. Medical staff from SLU Health’s mobile unit will be on site to conduct physicals and concussion screenings.
For many families, sports physicals are a required step before children can take the field, court or track. Organizers hope removing the cost barrier will make it easier for young people across the city to start the season ready to compete.
The morning will also include food for participants, and children who complete their physicals will receive Halloween candy bags.
The event is free and open to youth throughout the St. Louis area.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis serves young people through after-school, sports, teen and summer programming across the region, including at the historic Mathews-Dickey Club in north St. Louis.
