Rachel Antoinette Morgan, a 13- year-old eighth grade student at Hazelwood North Middle School, had a big year in 2010, performing twice at the 103rd Holy Convocation of The Church of God in Christ (COGIC) that convened in St. Louis. Morgan is a fourth-generation member of COGIC, the largest African-American Pentecostal church in the United States and the fourth-largest Protestant denomination in North America. She performed Chopin’s “Fantasy Impromptu” for the COGIC faithful. Local convocation members of the Eastern Missouri First Jurisdiction (Bishop R. J. Ward, prelate) expressed feelings of great pride that she represented their Jurisdictional Purity Class, the Women’s Department Division for teens ages 12-19 (Missionary Beverly Fowler, Purity Lady).
