St. Louis CITY SC and Schnucks are joining forces once again to address food insecurity in the St. Louis region. The CITY x Schnucks Food Drive, benefiting Operation Food Search, runs August 5–11 at Schnucks locations across the metro area — giving fans and community members a chance to donate nonperishable items and support families facing hunger.
As part of the weeklong effort, CITY SC first‑team players Miguel Perez, Tomáš Ostrák and Palmer Ault will appear at the Lindenwood Schnucks in St. Charles on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 6–7 p.m. Those who donate in person will have the opportunity to meet the players, take photos and get autographs.
Operation Food Search reports that Missouri’s food insecurity rate is estimated at 12.7%, with some areas reaching 18.4%. One in six children in the organization’s service area is food insecure. Each month, OFS provides food and services to more than 200,000 people through a network of partners — including CITY SC and Schnucks.
“Our food drive with Schnucks is always an incredible reminder of what we can accomplish when our community comes together,” said Ken Earley, Director of Community Relations for St. Louis CITY SC. “Partnering with Schnucks and Operation Food Search not only brings awareness to food insecurity in our region but turns compassion into action.”
Schnucks leaders echoed that commitment. “Fighting food insecurity and hunger is central to our mission of nourishing people’s lives,” said Schron Jackson, Director of Community Engagement & Customer Care. “With the help of our dedicated customers, together we can make a real difference in the lives of those most in need in the St. Louis area.”
Most‑needed items include:
- Chicken, light tuna and salmon (cans or pouches)
- Canned chicken soup, chili and stews
- Canned fruit (packed in natural juices)
- Canned vegetables
- Diced tomatoes, tomato paste and spaghetti sauces (low‑sodium appreciated)
- Canned beans (low‑sodium appreciated)
- Instant brown rice and whole‑wheat pasta
- Boxed meal kits
- Dried spices
- Pop‑top cans preferred; no glass containers or ramen noodles
“Food insecurity is a major challenge in St. Louis, but it is a problem that is solvable,” said Operation Food Search President & CEO Kristen Wild said. “The generosity of Schnucks, CITY SC and the community helps us build a healthier and more vibrant region.”
