The Ferguson-Florissant School District offers a free program, Parents as Teachers, to families within the school district. The Parents as Teachers program offers all parents the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills to make the most of the crucial early years. Families who participate in Parents as Teachers receive personal visits provided by a certified parent educator trained in child development and the latest research on early learning and brain development. Families also have the opportunity to participate in group activities where parents and children interact creatively.
Research has shown that children who have participated in Parents as Teachers are significantly more advanced at age three in language, social development, problem solving and other cognitive abilities. They have consistently scored higher on kindergarten readiness tests and third and fourth grade state achievement tests.
Parents as Teachers is committed to helping all children learn, grow and develop to realize their full potential.
