The entire experience of receiving the St. Louis American Foundation’s Corporate Executive of the Year Award, including the publicity and the positive articles about me in the St. Louis American, the awards luncheon and the videotaping session, has been both exhilarating and humbling.
I have had people, many of whom I do not know, approach me and congratulate me on receiving this honor, including the young man who works in the store where I take my children for ice cream, the admissions officer at the school we are currently considering for my daughter and the garage attendants at and around my office. This is a testament to the strong community impact the St. Louis American has and the wide variety of its readership.
