President Obama was swept into office under the mantra of “Yes, we can.” Unfortunately he underestimated the Republican response for his desire to work cooperatively to change business as usual in the Beltway.
The Republicans responded with a way of thinking and lack of cooperation that resembled, “No, we ain’t.”
The Republicans have been elected to undo the mess the economy is in and to create jobs. They will not have long to gloat over the victory over the Democrats and their liberal wing. Their feet too will be held to the fire as the unemployed, suffering small business owners and the rest those under stress await the panacea that the Republicans say they wield.
As the newly elected Tea Party favorites are shunted to the back of the room by entrenched Republican dealmakers, we’ll see how they make their voices heard. Many say you can’t really evaluate the Tea Party elected officials until after January when they are officially sworn into office. I can’t wait.
