Here we go again. Tip-toeing around white folk to make them feel

comfortable in our world. The way Michael Richards used the N-word was completely different than when it is used in African-American conversation. Richards’ use of the word was derogatory, mean-spirited and vindictive. The way African Americans say the word is affectionate and familiar. Do we really think that if we change again and make another effort to assimilate that it will change the way white Americans feel about us?

Michael Richards proved himself to be an idiot by ranting and raving in public, and African Americans are encouraged to change to prove what again? That African Americans are somehow responsible because we use a word that is similar? We did nothing wrong.
