“line-height: 115%;”>Great to see coverage of St. Louis’ first

black krewe this year in the 2011 Mardi Gras

Parade.

“font-size: 10.0pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;”>There

I was, on the parade “battlefield” before the march, admiring the

Black Cinema entry, thinking, “If my krewe (Mystic Knights Of The

Purple Haze – Jimi Hendrix is OUR Patron Saint) has ANY competition

this year, it’s this float.” That opinion was shared by my krewe

brothers.

“font-size: 10.0pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: Verdana;”>I

recall not making so much a “challenge” as an observation to Mr.

Gage last August in front of my store in the Delmar Loop: “Hey, St.

Louis is the ONLY place on the planet where Mardi Gras/carnival

goes down – but not one single krewe from the black

community.”

To the parade’s newest krewe, congratulations in upping the game

and coming on SO strong the very first time, and no worries about

being in “one of the most segregated events” of St. Louis – it

ain’t no mo’.

far as 2012, well … it’s always good to give people something to

talk about in this city, true?
