The Annie Malone May Day Parade will officially march on during the afternoon of May 18, 2025.
On Thursday morning, February 27, 2025, Keisha Lee, Annie Malone president and CEO, said in a release “I spent all [Wednesday] in Jefferson City speaking with our senators, state representatives, and community leaders about the parade. The support was overwhelming.”
“They made calls, they took action, I’m happy to say that the parade is a go.”
Lee did not say who she spoke with, what funding had been secured to finance the parade, or if state money had been promised to the organization to be used for the parade.
“Now, we need you. It’s time to flood those registrations. Call your groups, dance teams, Greek organizations, and community partners—it’s go time,” Lee said in the release.
“With the parade now confirmed, registration is open, and community participation is vital. We are keeping our tradition alive, but we need everyone to step up. Let’s make this the biggest and best parade yet.”
Lee said Annie Malone was faced with a mid-March deadline to find financing for the parade, and that an estimated $250,000 would be needed.

So happy to hear that the Annie Malone May Day is Back On! Let’s All Flood the sideline with our families and friends and make this day a very special event. We Got This ♥️
As a teenager, a small group of us bussed from a Northside high school to Annie Malone’s Orphanage to volunteer. We road in the parade. It was an exciting and joyous event. That was close to 70 years ago. I’m in Marietta, Georgia now and receive the St Louis American digital. I am so glad the parade is going to happen and that Annie Malone is still vital in the community.
