Legal Services of Eastern Missouri is notifying tornado-affected residents about an urgent deadline relating to SNAP benefits (formerly known as food stamps).
SNAP recipients who lost power during the storm and had their food spoil as a result can request replacement benefits to purchase new food – but the deadline for the request is Monday, May 26 – 10 days following the tornado event.
Legal Services is encouraging anyone eligible to fill out this request form through the MO Department of Social Services as soon as possible. The form is also available at the Missouri Department of Social Services website, and htttps://bit.ly/MOSNAPReplacement.
As the recovery effort continues, Legal Services will have additional information and resources for affected communities.
