Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has launched an investigation into ActBlue, an online fundraising platform used by Democratic candidates, to determine whether it accepted illegal foreign or fraudulent contributions.
The investigation also will examine potential consumer protection law violations involving prepaid gift card donations and other possible fraud.
The investigation follows a joint interim staff report released Sept. 16 by three House committees — Judiciary, Administration and Oversight — titled “Fraud on ActBlue, Part III: ActBlue’s Failure to Prevent Illegal Foreign Political Contributions.”
Representatives for ActBlue and congressional Democrats have denounced the probes as a coordinated political campaign aimed at damaging the party’s primary digital fundraising engine.
ActBlue maintains it has fully cooperated with investigations — producing nonprivileged documents and complying with subpoenas since 2025 — and disputes allegations that it failed to adequately prevent fraudulent or foreign contributions.
