Claiming a Minneapolis woman “weaponized her vehicle” to run over and kill an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokesperson, Tricia McLaughlin, defended the agent who shot and killed her, saying “he used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers.”
Pushing back on the narrative, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said: “They (DHS) are already trying to spin this as an action of self-defense. Having seen the video of myself, I want to tell everybody directly that is b—s—,” the mayor said during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz added, “Don’t believe this propaganda machine.”
He could have referred to several videos taken by onlookers. In one, a gray pick-up truck is seen near a burgundy SUV when someone shouts, “get the f— out of our neighborhood” before agents get out of the truck, and yank the driver’s door handle, ordering the driver to get out. The vehicle reverses and another agent seems to have drawn his firearm, shooting into the SUV as it drives off.
Another video, showing a different angle of the scene, seems to show an agent being knocked back as the SUV drives forward before crashing into a parked car and hitting a light pole. President Donald Trump posted that video on his social media platform, Truth Social, with a comment saying the woman driving was “very disorderly, obstructing and resisting,” and that it was hard to believe the agent survived the incident.
The woman’s name was not released on Wednesday afternoon. Minneapolis Police simply described the deceased as a “middle-aged white woman” who did not appear to be the target of any law enforcement investigation or activity. Wednesday evening, she was indentifed as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good by local news outlets and officials.
This story will be updated as events unfold.

I am very much a DJT supporter, navy veteran, & retired SLPS hs tchr. Nevertheless, I have watched four videos posted by the NYT. I have also been following the issue on the NYPost. The woman backed up, made a sign to leave, drove right moderately, & was shot for fleeing. In order for the administration to retain credibility, this agent & his “cowgirl” director need to be held accountable.
