Nov. 10, 1951 – Jan. 29, 2008

Clinton A. Griffin was born on Nov. 10, 1951 in St. Louis to the union of William and Gladys Griffin, the youngest of seven children. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Lewis Wilson; and his sisters, Willie Lee Reece, Vera Gentry and Mable Caldwell.

Clinton received his education in the St. Louis Public Schools and was a graduate of Charles Sumner High School. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country. When his military service ended, Clinton joined the St. Louis City Police Department and worked as a police officer while furthering his education in law at St. Louis Community College. Later he joined the Wellston Police Department until his retirement.

In 1978, Clinton entered into Holy Matrimony with Inez Marie Cunningham, and to this union one son, Clinton Adrian Griffin II, was born.

Clinton had a passion for music and spent much of his time recording, promoting and managing local talent. He was also blessed with a beautiful singing voice. He was always the life of the party and will be truly missed.

He departed this life on Jan. 29, 2008, at his home.

Clinton leaves to cherish his memory one son, Clinton A. Griffin II; a daughter, Rita Bernard Mitchell; four grandsons, Clinton A. Griffin III, Jamaal Mitchell, Cortese Mitchell and Chad Mitchell; two sisters, Dorothy Miller and Thelma Willis; a fiancée, Roberta Todd; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
