July 18, 1929 – October 15, 2007
David Harrison Jones, Sr. was born July 18, 1929 to Van and Minnie Lee Jones. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. He peacefully departed this life on Monday, October 15, 2007 with his family at his bedside.
David’s first marriage was to Lydia Johnson in 1949, who preceeded him in death. To that union, five children were born, David, Jr., Michael, Lawrence, Maria and Beverly. He later married Loretta Mansfield on July 12, 1986. From this marriage he gained another daughter, Kimberly Armstead and a son-in-law Ray, Sr. and a grandson Ray, Jr.
He was active in his church. He was an usher and a member of the Men’s Club.
He loved his family and from these combined unions, he enjoyed his six children, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was passionately called “grandpa” by all and was loved by all as well.
As he retired from Moore Cadillac, he enjoyed cooking, playing cards with his friends and most of all golfing.
For many years, he was a member of the club El Costa Ricos. He enjoyed his social life, but God came first. He was a hard worker and truly provided for his family. He started having breakfast for the immediate family every Christmas morning. The family truly enjoyed it. He will be truly missed, but the family is happy that he is at home with God.
