Dr. Joseph O. Erondu, a dentist who had run a clinic in the old Gaslight Square neighborhood, providing a service for disadvantaged patients, died June 23, 2005, of kidney failure

Dr. Erondu was 51 and lived in Florissant. His family plans to hold a burial service in his home country of Nigeria.

Before he passed, Dr. Erondu lost his Gaslight Square location due to eminent domain and moved his dental practice to 3029 South Jefferson. Dr. Erondu moved to the United States from Nigeria in 1976. He received his dental degree from Washington University in 1983.

In addition to his widow, Stella, he is survived by two sons, Obinna C. and Chinedum C., both of Florissant, two daughters Ngozi A. and Chinwendu, both of Florissant, and 15 brothers and sisters.
