Born June 9, 1929, entered into eternal rest May 20, 2007. Russell graduated from Sumner High School in January 1947. He attended Harris-Stowe Teachers College in St. Louis. He became supervisor of the Respiratory Therapy Department of Barnes-Jewish Hospital until he retired in the 1990s.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Russell Arnold McClain Sr. and Helen Marie McClain Hearn; brother, Richard McClain; and three wives. His wife of 11 years, Carole Longworth McClain, was his constant companion until his death. They had previously divorced in 1984 but remained in close contact.
His outstanding accomplishments were: Founders Award for Outstanding Achievements in the Area of Human Relations Skills, Board of Directors 1984 Award of Cooperation and Assistance in Furthering Respiratory Training Programs and Valley College of Medical & Dental Careers in 1984. He was a charter member of El Costa Ricos since 1944. Russell served in the U.S. Navy from January 27, 1948 until December 26, 1951.
Russell had two sons, Kevin and Russell McClain; a daughter, Karen Brown; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He will be remembered for his sparkling personality and readiness to help others, always putting others first and his love for God and country.
