On December 13, 2007 Sandra Virginia Mason Reid was called Home.
Sandra was born August 14, 1944 and raised in Wellston, Mo., the daughter of Robert H. Mason Sr. and Artia Mae Mason. She graduated from Wellston High School, Harris-Stowe State University and Washington University. She retired from teaching 4th grade at Carman Trails School in the Parkway School District.
She was married to Donnell Reid for 38 years. Together they had three sons, Landon Donnell, Jonathan David and Geoffrey Daniel, and one grandson, Jonathan Donnell. One of Sandra’s proudest achievements was seeing her sons take their place in the world as kind, thoughtful men.
Sandra’s six-foot frame cut a striking figure in orange. She believed that supporting the rich traditions of African-American culture preserved a legacy for the future. Her warm smile lit up a room and maintained the bonds of friends and family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 20 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Chesterfield, 17155 Wild Horse Creek Rd., Chesterfield. Internment to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Harris-Stowe State University Foundation.
