William “Bill” Poston, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend departed this life peacefully on January 31, 2009 at 1:30 a.m. at home, surrounded by his family, loved ones and friends.

Bill was born July 27, 1935, the son of Samuel Ward and Clara Poston in Fredericktown, MO. At the age of 14, Bill relocated to St. Louis and has been an active lifelong city resident and a devoted member of the Catholic Church community. Bill graduated from Sumner High School and continued his education at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and St. Louis Community College.

In 1988 Bill and Joyce Poston were united in holy matrimony. This union lasted until his home going.

Bill served as a Republican committeeman for the 21st Ward and was a member of the Republican St. Louis City Central Committee for 50 years. He also held the title of Missouri Republican committeeman for many years. Bill was a former appointee in Gov. Kit Bond’s administration in the Department of Revenue, staffing two offices in the city of St. Louis. Bill enjoyed life and was very active and passionate within the Republican Party and Pro-Life Movement.

Bill was an active member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church. His occupation included services as a Food Service director at Parkside Towers Nursing Home, Tower Village Nursing Home and Food Service Manager of Meals on Wheels. During Bill’s 20 year employment at Reynolds Metal he was a proud member of the Teamsters Union and shop steward. Bill served as a Missouri licensed realtor for Schaller Realty and was the proud owner of Poston & Associates, an insurance brokerage company.

He loved to help others and always has a smile to share with anyone.

His parents Clara and Samuel Ward Poston, his younger sister, Emma Louise and his oldest son, Samuel Michael, preceded him in his homegoing.

Bill leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Joyce Medley Poston; his children, Karen, Ricardo (Jamie), William L. Poston, Jr. and Georgia Poston (wife of Samuel Michael Poston, deceased); one sister, Peggy Johnson; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, one nephew Thomas Paul Johnson, along with a host of other relatives, family and friends.
