The 22nd Judicial Circuit Court has rejected efforts to overturn the March 8 Democratic primary victory of 3rd Ward Alderman Freeman Bosley Sr. The court found no substance in challenger Jeffrey Hardin’s allegations of impropriety by the St. Louis Board of Election Commissioners or Bosley’s campaign.

Hardin’s decision to challenge Bosley Sr.’s squeeker victory in the 3rd Ward may have been based on a decision by the court to order a new election in the 4th Ward Democratic committeeman’s election last summer. In that case, the court decided that there were enough mistakes to warrant a new election.

Speaking of the 4th Ward, the subsequent winner in that Democratic committeeman’s race, O.L. Shelton, is preparing to run for 4th Ward alderman in a special election to be held as a result of the successful recall of 4th Ward Alderwoman Peggy Ryan. Shelton engineered the third recall election in St. Louis political history in his quest to stage a political comeback after he was term-limited from his state representative office and defeated by Pat Dougherty in a bid for state senate.
