What’s up with the ESL police department? As if there is isn’t enough scandal already, it seems that ESL City Manager Alvin Parks has canned 22 of ESL’s 58 auxiliary police officers.
Why? Well, it seems that a number of the current crop of “rent-a-cops” have been found to have felony convictions and serious misdemeanor convictions, based upon preliminary background checks. Parks is taking it a step further by conducting checks on the department’s 65 regular officers as well. I guess it couldn’t hurt.
Some toes are apparently being stepped upon, though, because Deputy Police Chief Rudy McIntosh (under investigation himself for possibly lacking a high school credential and a possible homicide back in 1979) is engaging in a little player-hating by blaming acting Police Chief Marion Hubbard for the oversights.
We just wonder who was asleep at the wheel when Rudy “Showtime” McIntosh slipped through the cracks. Sounds like it’s “butt-covering time.”
