Freshman Congressman Russ Carnahan will host two Social Security Town Hall meetings in the Third Congressional District. Here’s when and where:

* Thursday, February 24 from 7-8:30 p.m. in Weber Road Branch Library’s community room, 4444 Weber Road.

* Monday, February 28 from 6-7:30 p.m. in Jefferson Memorial Hospital’s conference room, 1400 U.S. Highway 61 South in Crystal City.

And state Sen. Maida Coleman will speak up at a fundraiser tomorrow, Feb. 25 from 6-9 p.m. at the New Rosebud Café of the Scott Joplin House, 2658 Delmar. The beneficiary is Williams & Associates, a non-profit agency committed to addressing minority health disparities. For more information, call 531-2284.

Coleman and state Rep. Jeff Harris also took a nice shot this week at Gov. Matt Blunt for his idiotic remark that you can only find Democrats in “places where nobody wants to live.” They wrote that Blunt just “validated the concerns of many who have questioned his maturity and ability to lead the state.” Like the EYE said all along, even some of his fellow Republicans call the man Roy Runt.
