Mayor Joe Adams kicked off his re-election campaign last Thursday and celebrated the city’s 100th birthday at the same event.

“Let’s keep moving University City ahead as we enter our second century. Let’s keep making this a great community to live in for everybody, and let’s keep bringing people in from all over the region to experience

this great city.”

Adams was elelcted in 1996 and has been member of the city council since 1974.

“Everything is coming together – the Loop, $200 million in economic development, rising property values, great neighborhoods, superb city services and revitalized recreation,” he said before the event.

“I can envision the future, and it means making University City the residential community of choice for our region, with all kinds of desirable housing, with sensible development and with businesses that serve both our

residents and our visitors as well.”
