Back at the top of the month the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a Missouri Supreme Court ruling that overturned a death sentence in 1993 because the condemned (Christopher Simmons) was a juvenile (age 17) when he committed the murder of Shirley Crook.
The NNPA released a list of 72 juveniles in 12 states released from death row in the wake of this decision, which gave some cheer to those of us who oppose judicial murder along with all the street varieties, a group that prominently includes Jamala Rogers and the many activists in Missouri Coalition to Ban Youth Executions and Missourians to Abolish the Death Penalty.
