St. Louis residents affected by the May 2025 tornado can receive a 50% reduction in water rates through 2028 under a new city assistance program as the Water Division ends its moratorium on delinquent accounts.
About 4,164 accounts in tornado-affected neighborhoods are delinquent, totaling $4.34 million. Water shutoffs for delinquent accounts are scheduled to resume Sept. 30.
Under the Tornado Recovery Water Affordability Program, eligible residents can receive reduced rates, extended repayment plans and waived late fees. Charges since the tornado can be forgiven for homes deemed uninhabitable.
