Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (Philippians 4:8)

One day I had to work from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. and then attend a training class from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. adding up to almost 16 hours with no rest. I felt physically and mentally drained. As I thought on all the things that still needed to be done, I began feeling myself entering into a mental wilderness.

As the negative thoughts began bombarding my mind, I knew that if I did not take charge immediately I would be in a distressed state of mind. I spoke out loud into the atmosphere and said to myself, “Instead of having a mental breakdown, I will have a mental breakthrough.”

I began casting down imaginations, and every high thing that lifted itself up against the knowledge of God, and I began bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).

So in other words I aligned my mouth and mind with the Word of God and anything opposite was relinquished. I began thinking and saying things that were true, honest and just. I began confessing that I have the mind of Christ and that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

We are in a war and the enemy is not playing fair. The battleground is our minds and he has a mental plan to destroy us with evil thoughts. We don’t have to be afraid of the enemy’s plan because God also has a good plan. John 10:10 says that the thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

In order for us to have the abundant life we must follow the abundant plan of God. Ephesians 6:11 tells us to put on the whole armor of God, that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. God gives us all the protective gear that we need in order to battle and win. Our head gear is not left out. Ephesians 6:17 say’s and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

It’s God’s word that will keep you from falling prey to the attacks of the devil. You must prepare yourself for the battle now because you know your enemy is coming, it’s not if, but when. A good soldier disciplines himself to do the things he knows he’s supposed to do regardless of how tired he may feel. He is getting himself ready to defeat his enemy. You must do the same if you want to win. Stop the mental breakdown mentality and get your mental breakthrough.
