If our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost. In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ ….. should shine unto them. – II Corinthians 4: 4
Spiritual Blindness comes to keep us from believing and accepting Jesus Christ as our personal savior.
Church members are blinded, in spite of knowledge of the Bible, in spite of an acquaintance with the things of God, and in spite of head knowledge of spiritual things.
Samson was known for his great strength. He was judge of Israel for 20 years and a Nazarite from birth. However, Satan blinded him. He was disobedient to his parents. He chose a wife from the enemies’ camp. He visited prostitutes in Gaza. He started shacking with a girl named Delilah. We know how that turned out.
Spiritual blindness comes from being comfortable with and tolerating sin (2 Corinthians 6:17). Wherefore come out from among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord.
Some are spiritually blinded by the love of some secret sin; adulterous affairs, a secret act (cursing, backbiting, drugs, drinking) or a thing (a habit you can’t break).
David prays in Psalm 19:12, “Who can understand his errors? Cleanse thou me from (my) secret faults.”
Still others are blinded by failure to break away from the past (2 Corinthians 5:17). Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. It’s time to let go!
False concepts of salvation and God’s grace can keep you blind. For instance, you cannot be saved unless you go to my church or trusting in a deathbed confession. Death may come quickly and there is no time to repent.
To overcome spiritual blindness, Christ, not your church, not the ministry, nor the preacher must be proclaimed. We must proclaim the Light of the Glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ boldly.

The Glorious Gospel reads that at the age of 33 Jesus was betrayed by Judas Iscariot. Tried in an unjust court. Sentenced to death by an angry mob. Scourged by a Roman soldier. Lead through the streets of Jerusalem to Calvary Hill; Nailed in his hands and feet to a cross. Speared in his side. Jesus died and was buried in another man’s tomb but after 3 days, He got up with all power in his hand.
The Gospel is the power to overcome spiritual blindness. Will you receive it today? Repent and be baptized. Join a local church. I did. I once was blind but now I see.
