In short, what do you do?
As Director of Internal Operations I provide leadership and operational oversight of the Office of the President in fulfilling the University’s mission and goals. I support the President in planning and executing a wide range of sensitive executive and administrative duties related to policy development and implementation, represent the President to faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external community stakeholders, and manage board relations.
How do you define success in terms of your work and the institution you serve?
Success is every student who crosses the stage after going through hardships, stopping out and returning, losing a family member and those who simply did not have support, other than the great faculty and staff at Harris-Stowe. Success is watching their dreams turn into reality.
From Marist College, to Brooklyn, to Bethune Cookman to Harris-Stowe…each time you’ve gained more responsibility. What do you feel has led you to your success?
Simply put, my village who believed and supported me from day one! Each institution taught me valuable lessons that I watched closely and apply in my every day walk.
What motivates you as a professional?
Students continuously motivate me. At the beginning, middle and end, the students are the reason I am here.
What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve received?
You do the work regardless of who is watching and the rest will follow. That includes promotions, accolades and measurable success.
You’ve been in St. Louis for several years now. Please share with our readers some of the good stories about our town.
South City is a gem! It reminds of me of growing up in Brooklyn, New York. The culture and people have won me over!
