In short, what do you do?
As a Specialist in Business Management for AT&Ts Contact Center Technologies organization, I am responsible for the management and pre/post deployment activities of all IVR (Interactive Voice Response) impacting table change and media server updates. Our team supports over 100 applications/teams, providing solutions for mobility and wireline IVR projects. With an organizational mission to connect people to world class contact applications that reliably and powerfully enable them to live and work, the management of these updates helps to ensure a continuously evolving and improved customer experience for both AT&T and External Contact Center managed services clients.
Many young professionals are known to change jobs every few years. How has AT&T been such a great fit during your 12+ year tenure?
With my 13th service anniversary quickly approaching, I am reminded of the support and flexibility that AT&T has always provided. As an educational advocate, AT&T has encouraged my quest to continue my education at every turn. Management has always acknowledged my progress and assisted me in finding opportunities that fit my interests. Working for a cutting edge communications company that provides innovative services worldwide has afforded me the flexibility to work from many locations. This pliability contributes greatly to my work/life balance and allows me to accomplish much more than I would by being confined to a static location. AT&T is an amazing company to work for!
Tell us about your work with Saving Black Minds.
Saving Black Minds is a non-profit organization that I formed in December 2015. We are dedicated to supporting families as they strive for a brighter future! We believe that everyone can be excellent and hope to regenerate within people a desire to excel and succeed. Through our inaugural event, Off 2 a Great Start, we were able to support 75 students (50 families) by providing Fresh Start Kits (5 new uniforms and hygiene supplies) to help prepare them for a successful school year.
Your mentorship and community efforts all serve children in some way. How did service to young people come into focus for you?
Although service to mankind is my central focus, I must admit that I have a true affinity for children. I am the product of a family that believes in helping anyone in need. Growing up, I had an awesome “village,” and it was they who showed me that it takes a village to raise a family. As far back as I can remember, I’ve always loved both children and learning. It was only natural for me to combine the two. As an adolescent, I remember playing “school” and reading to my neighbor’s younger children. Both of my parents once served as youth Sunday School teachers. Upon graduating from college, I followed in their footsteps; going further and mentoring and tutoring students (and sometimes parents).
