Several St. Louis area teams moved one step closer to realizing a dream to play in the Edward Jones Dome during Thanksgiving weekend by winning a district championship. The next step for the Class 6 winners is a date in the state semifinals on Friday night. Here is rundown of this weekend’s state playoff games involving area schools.

Class 6 Semifinals 

Springfield Kickapoo (12-0) at CBC (12-0), Friday, 7 p.m.

Blue Springs South (12-0) at Kirkwood (10-1), Friday, 7 p.m.

CBC and Kirkwood are in the semifinals for the second consecutive year. Only this time, they are not playing each other as they did last year. CBC will host undefeated Kickapoo while Kirkwood will host undefeated Blue Springs South, who defeated Francis Howell last Friday night. Defending champion CBC ran is winning streak to 26 games with a 47-0 victory over Hazelwood Central to win the district championship.

Class 5 Quarterfinals 

Chaminade (10-1) at Summit (10-2), Friday, 7 p.m.

Battle (9-2) at Fort Zumwalt North (11-0), Friday, 7 p.m.

Chaminade advanced to the quarterfinals with a dramatic last-minute victory over Pattonville in the District 2 finals. The Red Devils will visit Summit, who were in the state quarterfinals in 2012 when they lost a classic game to Kirkwood on a last-second field goal. The Fort Zumwalt North-Battle matchup is a rematch of last year’s quarterfinal game, which Battle won en route to winning the state championship.

Class 4 Quarterfinals

Affton (11-1) at Cape Girardeau Central (8-4), Friday, 7 p.m.

Westminster (12-0) at University City (7-5), Saturday, noon

Affton and Cape Central are meeting in a rematch of last year’s state quarterfinals game, which Cape Central won on its way to the Class 4 Show Me Bowl. Westminster’s high-powered offense will provide a big challenge to University City’s stellar defense, which shut out all three of its opponents in winning the District 3 title.

Class 3 Quarterfinals 

John Burroughs (11-1) at Park Hills Central (10-2), Saturday, 1 p.m.

The Bombers are seeking their fifth trip to the Show-Me Bowl in the past six years. They took a big step last weekend by defeating McCluer South-Berkeley 40-14 to win a district championship.

Class 2 Quarterfinals 

Cardinal Ritter (11-1) at Malden (12-0), Friday, 7 p.m.

Palmyra (10-2) at Lutheran North (8-4), Saturday, 1 p.m.

Both games are rematches of last year’s state quarterfinals, which were won by Malden and Palmyra. Cardinal Ritter trailed Jefferson 22-8 in the district championship game against Jefferson, but stormed back to take a 52-30 victory. Lutheran North continues to be one of the area’s hottest teams. The Crusaders defeated previously unbeaten Brentwood 64-38 to win the District 5 title and run their winning streak to seven games.
