St. Louisan Jayson Tatum added another clutch moment to his growing NBA résumé Tuesday night.

The former Chaminade College Prep All-American hit a mid‑range jumper at the buzzer to lift the Boston Celtics to a 125‑124 overtime victory over the Brooklyn Nets at TD Garden.

Tatum capped a brilliant 40‑point effort in his first back‑to‑back since returning from an Achilles injury suffered 18 months ago. He added five rebounds, eight assists and no turnovers while going 18 of 22 from the free‑throw line.

It was Tatum’s seventh game‑winning shot with less than three seconds remaining — the most in the NBA since the 2019‑20 season. He also recorded his fourth career 40‑point game, becoming the fourth player in Celtics history to reach that mark, joining Larry Bird, John Havlicek and Paul Pierce.

Through four games, Tatum is averaging 28 points, 6.2 rebounds and 8 assists while leading Boston to a 3‑1 start. During the Celtics’ three‑game winning streak, he is averaging 33 points, seven rebounds and seven assists while shooting 49 percent from the field.

In the home opener last Friday, Tatum posted 36 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in a 107‑103 win over the New York Knicks. He sealed that victory with three straight jumpers in the closing minutes.
