The New York Knicks’ dream postseason continued Wednesday night with a big comeback victory to open the NBA Finals.
The Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 105-95 in San Antonio to take a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The Knicks trailed by 14 points in the third quarter before staging their rally. It was also the Knicks’ 12th consecutive victory in the playoffs.
Leading the Knicks was star guard Jalen Brunson, who scored a game-high 30 points. He took over the game in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 points on five of nine shooting from the field. Center Karl-Anthony Towns had 18 points and 12 rebounds while Jefferson City native OG Anunoby added 17 points. Guard Josh Hart grabbed a team-high 15 rebounds.
The Spurs were led by 7’5″ center Victor Wembanyama, who scored 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Stephon Castle scored 17 points while rookie Dylan Harper came off the bench to score 16 points.
The action resumes with Game 2 on Friday night in San Antonio. Tip off time is at 7:30 p.m.
