It is definitely All-Star weekend in St. Louis as the top graduating seniors in the area will participate in two All-Star basketball games.

The first All-Star event taking place will be The Mid-States Wrecking Border Battle All-Star Weekend, presented by the Stevens/Little Group.

The Air Force City vs. County game will be held on Friday, March 25 at 8 p.m. The Air Force St. Charles County All-Star Game will be held on Saturday, March 26 at 7 p.m. Both games will be played at the Bauman-Eberhardt Center (West Pine Gym) at Saint Louis University.

Showtime Basketball will present its annual Missouri vs. Illinois Riverwar Classic on Saturday at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The Riverwar will feature three games. The first game will feature the top girls at 3:30 p.m., followed by the St. Louis vs. Kansas City I-70 Showdown at 5:45 p.m. The finale will be the Missouri vs. Illinois game at 7 p.m.

Some of the top players scheduled to participate in the City-County game on Friday include Johnny Hill and Kenny Daniels of Class 5 state runners-up Vashon, Landon Shipley and Matt Lawrence of Lafayette, Suburban East Co-Players of the Year Matt Akins of Jennings and Carl Stallings of Wellston and Suburban North Player of the Year Lenzell Cole of Normandy.

Many of the top players from the St. Louis area are scheduled to play in both events. Some of the top girls scheduled to play in the Riverwar on Saturday are Sonya Daugherty (Hancock), Rachel Pierson (Incarnate Word), Whitney Washington (Vashon), Maria Bratcher (Jennings), Deidra Dace (Metro), Tamara McCaskill (Edwardsville), Amanda Kemzys (Belleville East). A few top players expected to come in for the Missouri-Illinois game are Marcus Walker of Missouri Class 4 state champion Kansas City O’Hara and the duo of Phillip Fayne and Josh Tabb of Illinois Class AA state runners-up Carbondale.
