Teenage track and field phenom Tate Taylor was one of the big individual stars at last week’s World U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The 18-year-old superstar won three gold medals, setting a championship record in the 200 and a world U20 record in the 4×100 relay. He swept both the 100- and 200-meter dash races, then anchored the USA to a world-record victory in the 4×100-meter relay.
Taylor posted a winning time of 9.94 seconds in the 100. He became the first American sprinter to win gold at the U20 championships in 10 years. He followed with a 19.83-second victory in the 200. In the 4×100, he turned in a blistering 8.7-second anchor leg to help the USA win the race in a U20 world record time of 38.16 seconds. Blake Hamilton, Dillon Mitchell and Kyler Brown joined Taylor on the world-record 4×100 team.
