St. Louisans Rob Martin and Cam’Ron Fletcher led High Point to a 91-76 victory over Winthrop in the championship game of the Big South Tournament on Sunday in Johnson City, Tenn.

The victory gives High Point its 30th victory this season, plus an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Martin and Fletcher combined to score 41 points to lead High Point.

Martin, a former CBC standout point guard, scored a game-high 24 points while handing out seven assists. Fletcher, a former Vashon High standout, scored 17 points and grabbed 19 rebounds which was a new Big South Tournament record.

Martin was named the Big South Newcomer of the Year in his one season with the Panthers. He is averaging 15 points and nearly four assists a game. He made several dazzling plays in the open court during the championship game.

The 6’7” Fletcher has battled injuries throughout his career, but he found a home at High Point, where he is averaging 10 points and a team-high 6.4 rebounds a game. He is also shooting 35 percent from 3-point range.
