Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr. has agreed to fight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez Sept. 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The bout will be fought at a catchweight of 152 lbs according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com.
The undefeated welterweight champion announced the news via a Twitter post.
Mayweather (44-0, 26 KOs) is coming off a one-sided victory over Robert Guerrero in defense of his welterweight strap. He previously held the WBC’s version of the super welterweight title after defeating Miguel Cotto.
Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KOs) is coming off an impressive victory over Austin Trout in an April unification bout and is widely considered the top 154-pounder in the world.
