The Saint Louis University Billikens have entered the Top 25 in the national basketball polls this week for the first time in 17 years.

The Billikens (6-0) are ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press (AP) poll and No. 25 in the USA Today/Coaches Poll.

SLU rolled to the championship of the 76 Classic in Anaheim, California last weekend with victories over BCS conference opponents Boston College, Villanova and Oklahoma. The Billikens defeated Oklahoma 83-63 in the championship game on Sunday.

Senior forward Brian Conklin scored 25 points in the championship game.

He was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Junior guard Kwamain Mitchell was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

The last SLU team to be ranked in the Top 25 was the Charlie Spoonhour-led team in 1994 that advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
