St. Louisan Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx was named the WNBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week after an impressive start of the season.
The former Incarnate Word Academy All-American averaged 24.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals last week as the Lynx won their first two games of the season against the Seattle Storm.
Collier had 20 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in the Lynx’ 83-70 victory over the Storm in the opening game of the season. In the second game, Collier had 29 points, nine rebounds, five assists and six steals in a 102-93 victory.
On Thursday night, Collier scored a season-high 31 points in the Lynx’ overtime loss to the Connecticut Sun in a battle of undefeated teams. Collier also had 11 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks in the game.
