In what could be an episode of “Cops,” LeBron James’ mother, 37-year-old Gloria James, demonstrated her own athletic ability while being arrested.
Two off-duty city officers working security for the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority said Gloria James’ 2004 Cadillac Escalade almost hit their unmarked vehicle Friday night. When stopped, she smelled of alcohol and was cited for driving while intoxicated. A struggle then broke out as officers handcuffed her and attempted to place her in a police vehicle.
Once she was in the car, she kicked a window of the patrol car off its track, according to an Akron police report.
She was charged with reckless operation, driving 50 mph in a 30-mph zone, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, disorderly conduct and damaging police equipment.
She pleaded not guilty and will make her first court appearance on Feb. 6.
