The Sportseye has learned that a report on the errant bookkeeping of Vashon basketball coach Floyd Irons is scheduled to be discussed during the St. Louis Public Schools board meeting this month.

Board president Darnetta Clinkscale said, “This is not over” when asked about unreconciled bank statements, past due vendor bills and fundraising activities unknown to the district and held without district approval discovered by Harry Rich, St. Louis Public Schools chief financial officer.

“We asked (Superintendent Creg Williams) to come back in December with a report. We will wait to hear what he has learned about the situation,” Clinkscale said last week.

The board’s newest member, Jim Buford, said, “This could be a personnel matter that should be handled by the superintendent and not a board matter.”

Should Williams return with a scathing report on Irons’ bookkeeping and move that he is dismissed or disciplined, the resulting storm of controversy would certainly carry over to the April 4 school board election.

However, it is unknown if some or any board members would come to Irons’ defense.

One thing is for sure, Rich will be watching from the sidelines. He announced his retirement last week and his last day with the district is today (December 1).

The board will hold an administrative meeting at the SLPS headquarters at 801 N. 11th on December 6. Its regular meeting is Tuesday, December 13 at Carr Lane Middle School in the auditorium.
