St. Louisan Jamal Roberts picked the perfect afternoon to enjoy the biggest game of his collegiate football career.

The former St. Mary’s standout rushed for 211 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead No. 25 Missouri to a 45-17 victory over No. 8 Florida in front of a raucous Homecoming crowd in Columbia on Saturday.

Roberts became only the second SEC running back to rush for 200 yards and score three touchdowns against a Top‑10 opponent. Former Alabama star Derrick Henry is the other one. He currently plays for the Baltimore Ravens.

Mizzou improved its record to 1-1 in the SEC and 4-1 overall while breaking its nine-game losing streak against Top 10 opponents.

Roberts did most of his damage in the second half, scoring all three of his touchdowns after halftime. His first came on a 5-yard run on the opening drive of the third quarter to give the Tigers a 27-10 lead.

Roberts ran wild in the fourth quarter as he broke loose for a 77-yard run to the Gators’ 1-yard line. On the next play, he scored his second touchdown to extend Mizzou’s lead to 38-10. On the Tigers’ next drive, Roberts scored on an 80-yard run, which put him over the 200-yard mark.

Mizzou quarterback Austin Simmons completed 23 of 30 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns, while receiver Cayden Lee had eight receptions for 110 yards. Mizzou’s defensive unit held Florida’s star running back Jadan Baugh to just 13 yards on 12 carries.
