Earl’s Pick Game of the Week

Wentzville Liberty (3-0) at North Point (3-0), Friday, 7 p.m.

One of the top matchups of the weekend will take place in Wentzville between these two undefeated teams. The two teams played two very close games last season. Liberty won the regular season game 15-12 while North Point came back to win 21-20 in the district playoffs.

Liberty is coming off an impressive 35-0 victory over Warrenton. Liberty is led by quarterback Sullivan Thornton and running back Jaylen Mack. Thornton has thrown for 10 touchdowns while Mack has scored eight touchdowns. North Point is led by dual-threat quarterback Ta’Vren Williams who has accounted for 13 touchdowns in three weeks. Maqell Campbell and Ty’Ron Williams form a potent receiving combination.

Hazelwood East (3-0) at Ladue (2-1), Friday, 7 p.m.

Hazelwood East is off and running to a 3-0 start, but the Spartans will face their toughest challenge to date when they visit Ladue on Friday night. The Rams have posted a pair of impressive victories after dropping its opening week game to Troy. Hazelwood East is led by senior running back Terrance Little, who has already scored 11 touchdowns this season. Defensive lineman Oscar Chatman leads a Hazelwood East defense that has given up only six points in the first three weeks. Ladue’s defense stood tall last week in its 14-10 victory over Lindbergh. The Rams feature one of the area’s top players in linebacker Mason Marden, who has committed to Arizona State.

DeSmet (1-2) at CBC (3-0), Friday, 6 p.m.

This renewal of this Metro Catholic Conference rivalry features two schools that have won a combined four Class 6 state championships in the past seven years. CBC has been playing some tremendous football with three one-sided victories to start the season. Senior quarterback Nick McClellan keeps the offense rolling at a high tempo. The Cadets defeated Chaminade 64-7 last Friday to open the MCC season. DeSmet is currently 1-2 after its loss to a strong SLUH team last Friday night. The Spartans need a big effort on Friday to keep pace in the MCC standings. Their offense is led by quarterback Gabe Rodrigrez and running back Cam Sharp. Michigan recruit Titan Davis is a force on the defensive line. The atmosphere will be electric at CBC on Friday night.

Cardinal Ritter (1-2) at Kansas City St. Pius X (1-2), Friday, 7 p.m.

Cardinal Ritter will travel across the state to take on St. Pius in a St. Louis vs. Kansas City matchup. Both teams are 1-2 while playing tough schedules to open the season. Cardinal Ritter lost road games at Jackson and CBC while St. Pius’ losses were to Rockhurst and Gardner Edgerton in Kansas. Cardinal Ritter got in the win column last weekend with a 50-0 victory over Francis Howell. The Lions feature senior running back Manny Ellis, who excels on offense and on kick returns.

Ritenour (2-1) at Pattonville (1-2), Friday, 7 p.m.

The St. Charles Rock Road rivalry will resume on Friday night at Pattonville. The host Pirates are coming off a 45-29 victory over Marquette to pick up their first victory of the season. One of their top players is receiver Jerrail West, who has scored two touchdowns while averaging 23 yards per reception. Ritenour features a potent offensive unit that is averaging 37 points a game. The Huskies are led by quarterback Anthony Odom.
