St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson’s chief of staff, Tim O’Connell, is leaving his position, several inside sources confirmed. Krewson is planning on replacing O’Connell with City Assessor Steve Conway, previously aldermen of the 8th Ward for almost three decades and Krewson’s longtime friend and ally.
The mayor’s spokesman Koran Addo could not comment immediately on O’Connell’s departure and Conway’s hiring, but said he would respond soon. Sources said that Conway’s appointment could happen “very, very” soon.
Before becoming Krewson’s chief of staff, O’Connell served as the legal counsel to the Board of Aldermen since November 2015, and he was previously an associate attorney for Bryan Cave.
On November 27, Krewson appointed Conway city assessor with a salary of $125,000.
