The St. Louis American is offering a free excursion on the way home from work that will help you unwind from the stresses of the day before jumping into your evening routine at home. The traditional “happy hour” is taking a fun and wholesome turn for those who realize that being healthy is really what it’s all about.
It’s the Healthy Happy Hour, Thursday, July 24 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Space, located at 320 – 324 N. Vandeventer at the corner of Lindell in midtown St. Louis. Street parking is available. The event is free and open to the public.
Food and drinks provided take on a more nourishing flair and can be prepared at home. They have less of the fats, sugars found in typical happy hour drinks that cloud the mind and munchies that clog the arteries and cling to the thighs.
Centene Corporation and the St. Louis American Foundation are partnering to sponsor monthly Healthy Happy Hours to give St. Louisans a chance to have a free, entertaining venue to cut loose while picking up a few healthier tips.
“We are eager for our community to have the best health outcomes possible. Staying healthy is a wonderful thing and our intention is to put the fun back in wellness, health education and self-empowerment and to find the most organic and upbeat way into people’s lives possible,” Dina Suggs, vice president of the St. Louis American Foundation, said.
“After the success of the Healthy, Happy Hour on the occasion of the re-launch of Your Health Matters in November, we had numerous requests from attendees to do more such events.”
Centene Corporation stepped up to make it happen.
What’s a celebration without a few slide dances? Bring your sneakers to enjoy stretching and line dancing and get a few weight loss tips along the way.
“We’re going to have a ball! Of course, we are grateful for the support of the Missouri Foundation for Health and the Centene Corporation for the outreach we’re doing in the community through the Healthy, Happy Hour program,” Suggs said.
